Built for flaky internet: how iEasySR keeps working offline

In much of West Africa, a reliable internet connection is not a given. The line drops mid-morning, the data bundle runs out, the power cuts and the router goes with it. A school-management app that only works with a perfect connection is not much use on the days you need it most. So we built iEasySR to keep going when the signal does not.

The connection drops. The work does not.

If the internet cuts out while you are working, the everyday data-entry screens carry on as if nothing happened:

• Attendance, per class and per session.
• Score entry, per subject.
• Fees and payments, recorded at the desk.
• Registering a new pupil, and enrolling one into a class.

Your entries are saved safely on the device. A small status pill shows how many changes are waiting, and the moment you are back online everything syncs to the server automatically, in order. Nothing is lost. If the server ever rejects a change, it is kept and flagged for you to retry, never dropped in silence.

Offline mode: open with no signal at all

Sometimes there is no connection even to open the app. For that there is a dedicated Offline mode, reachable from the sidebar or the status pill. It opens with zero signal and gives you four tabs: Attendance, Scores, Fees and Enrolment.

While you still have a connection, tap Prepare for offline once. In a single step it caches this term's classes, bills and the school roster, so later, with no signal, you can open any class, any bill, and enrol any existing pupil, without having visited each one first.

Enrol a pupil with no connection

The Enrolment tab is new, and it matters for a busy first week of term. Pick a class, then either:

• Register a walk-in pupil who just arrived at the gate, or
• Enrol an existing pupil into the class from your cached roster.

Either way the pupil appears in the class register straight away, ready to be marked present. When you reconnect, the registration and enrolment sync exactly once, and the official student record catches up.

A receipt in the payer's hand, right away

Collecting fees offline should not leave a parent empty-handed. When you record a payment with no connection, tap Print provisional receipt to hand over a printable slip on the spot. It is clearly marked provisional and carries a reference the payer can quote later to collect the official numbered receipt, which the server issues the moment your device syncs.

Safe when several people work at once

Offline does not mean chaos when a whole team is collecting at the gate. Fee receipt numbers are issued by the server, in order, as each payment syncs, so they are always sequential and never duplicated, even across several cashiers. Each offline payment carries a one-time key, so a payment sent twice on a weak line is still recorded only once, with no double-charge. For one class's attendance register on a given day, have a single person mark it offline. And when you are online, the app warns you if someone else changed a class since you opened it.

What still needs a connection

Offline is built for classroom and cash-desk data entry, which is exactly where a dropped connection hurts. Generating report cards and other PDF or CSV reports, the statutory returns, finance and payroll calculations, iAlex and iLex+, and the admin and settings screens all reach the server, so those still need to be online.

Install it like an app

Add iEasySR to your phone or laptop home screen and it opens like an app, which is the most reliable way to start it up cold with no signal. On a shared device, signing out clears the cached data so the next person never sees your school's records, while any change still waiting to sync is kept.

Flaky internet should never cost you a class's work or a day's collection. With iEasySR, it does not.
